Dubbed the ‘poster boy of zero waste living’ by the New York Times’ Joost Bakker continues to thrill our green sensibilities. His latest venture is Greenhouse by Joost – the movie, and a series of Q&A sessions happening this month.
“Imagine a house that grows its own food” posits Bakker as he sets out to build a self-sustaining home in Melbourne’s CBD. Building an ecosystem that provides water, energy, shelter and food, the movie traces Joost’s progress through bureaucratic delays, blackouts and all the other foibles of building your own home!

Winner of the Audience Award at the Melbourne international Film Festival Greenhouse by Joost has been selected for both the upcoming Adelaide Film Festival and Brisbane International Film Festival.

Following special screenings (NSW, VIC, ACT, WA and QLD) the film’s message will be expanded with an on-stage discussion with special guests including Damon Gameau, Sarah Wilson, Jack Thompson, Clare Bowditch, Neil Perry and Clare Cousins, as well as renowned chefs Matt Stone and Jo Barrett, who also feature in the film.

Eco-trailblazer, florist, entrepreneur, restaurateur, builder and zero waste champion, Bakker is at the cutting edge of multidisciplinary sustainable living.
