Tell us about the history of your company.
Haron Robson Pty Ltd was established in 1985 as a specialist electrical engineering and creative lighting design consultancy. Our first contract for Audio Visual services was in 1988, for the new Parliament House in Canberra. We have recently added energy planning to our list of specialisms and our appointment by the Department of Energy, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) as a specialist lighting auditor means we are now accredited to perform subsidised audits.
What does your company supply?
Haron Robson provides solutions for lighting, electrical, audio-visual and energy systems. Our latest service is specialist lighting audits; the cost is 70% subsidised by DECCW. Our team identifies potential energy savings, and shows you the next steps to implement the changes.
Where do you distribute?
We work on projects throughout Australia, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Pacific. Our subsidised lighting audits are currently focussed on NSW-based clients and properties.
What sets your company apart?
We provide truly independent and holistic commercial and technical advice. With knowledge across the whole spectrum of the building services we provide design solutions which consider the total project, not just the individual elements.
Our recent lighting auditing appointment means we are one of only 5 lighting consultants across NSW accredited to perform the subsidised lighting audit.
What is good design to you?
Good design is not only about the way something looks, but the way it performs. In terms of building services, good design means allowing the building to have its own character made of light, sight, sound and energy. Good lighting, electrical and audio visual design should be seamless; it should integrate with other services and enhance the user/visitor experience.
What does the future hold?
There will be a greater push from the State and Federal governments to demand that businesses make the switch to low-energy-consuming technologies. Property owners and managers will feel under pressure to take responsibility for the energy their buildings consume, and the pollution they expel. The general public will start making choices based on a business’ commitment to the environment and the community it serves.
