Design for long distance relationships.
August 25th, 2009
We’re sure it isn’t a new idea to have two time zones in one clock, but there is something about this little beauty from Kit Men that makes it work so well.
The idea for the Home Away dual-time alarm clock grew from the difficulty of maintaining long-distance relationships (personal and professional), and the increasing need for us to work, study and travel abroad.
The ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ theme informs the whole design of the clock, with one clock face clearly visible, foregrounded in black, while the second clock is slightly opaque – a subtle reminder of distant loved ones.
Each clock has an individual alarm setting which can wake you if you have an important call to make at a particular time (zone).
Home Away will be exhibiting at the Art Directors Club Gallery in New York from 21 October 2009.
