Indesign celebrates the influential work of metal craftsman Johannes Kuhnen as part of the Luminary series.
June 14th, 2011
In Issue 45 of Indesign magazine, we celebrate the work of Johannes Kuhnen, the German-born craftsman who has pioneered contemporary metalwork in Australia for decades.
As a lecturer in Gold and Silversmithing at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Australian National University (ANU), Kuhnen influenced the work of a legion of artists and craftspeople.
In his own work, he pioneered the use of anodised aluminium for jewellery and created inventive, innovative pieces that redefined Australian metalwork.
Indesign celebrated the work and achievements of Johannes Kuhnen with a special event at Zenith Interiors’ Canberra showroom on Thursday 2 June, where Kuhnen officially received the accolade of Indesign Luminary in recognition for his contribution to the Australian design industry.
