The designers of our future, UTS architecture students nurture a new kind of nest for creativity
December 21st, 2007
‘Pixel Nest’, a recently invented visual projection pavilion generated from advanced computer modelling, will begin touring the globe in January 2008.
The project was realised by second-year architecture students at the University of Technology, Sydney, and will be installed in plazas and galleries in cities such as Shanghai, Delhi and San Jose along the tour.
Part of CitySwitch, an international program encouraging solutions to planning and design issues cities face across the globe, ‘Pixel Nest’ is a 2.3m high enclosure constructed from lightweight polycarbonate interlocking panels. Each surface is covered with a next of 3D pixels, which reveal different projected images depending on the position of the viewer, providing the ultimate interactive viewing experience.
