The re-launch of a classic mid-century pendant merges 1950s style with contemporary colours.

Designed by Louis Poulsen in close collaboration with the Navy Buildings Department in the 1950s, the Doo-Wop pendant was used for many years in a variety of Royal Danish Navy premises. Appearing everywhere from navy offices to canteens, it became known as ‘The Navy Pendant’.
Its unique lighting properties and its outright utility also made it popular with non-navy folk, and it remained in Louis Poulsen’s catalogues until the early 1980s.
More recently, antique shops and auctions have witnessed its return to currency, and demand for a resumption of production has been generated.
Today’s Doo-Wop is a faithful reproduction of the 1950s original. While colours have been updated to correspond with today’s interior preferences, the production method remains unchanged. The shades are turned by hand before being bent up slightly at the edge to give them their special optical volume.
The much-appreciated illumination quality is explained by Doo-Wop’s two reflectors. The inner cone-shaped one provides anti-dazzle downlighting. The outer reflector provides soft up- and downlighting, and helps to create atmospheric illumination around the pendant.
Suitable to many contexts, Doo-Wop is available in red/orange, pale blue, green, white and black/grey, and also in an exclusive brass version.
