“Dynamic” is a word that aptly describes BASH (also known as “Build Amazing Statups here”), the new 23,910 square feet office of Infocomm Investments. Given their work with Singapore and global infocomm technology start-ups, the organisation needed a space that would support training programmes, co-working environments, as well as networking events for visitors and occupants.
Their brief to SCA Design (a member of ONG&ONG Group) called for an open and flexible office space that would help connect and encourage greater collaboration amongst the different teams and companies using the workspace.
To address these requirements, the design team has conceived of workstations that can be arranged to support different team configurations and workplace activities.
The design demonstrates space optimisation through the incorporation of movable dividers, privacy screens, as well as custom built ‘mobile booths’ that can be adapted to serve as collaboration spaces or meeting areas. In addition to flexible furniture such as folding worktops and adjustable shelving cabinets, modules on castor wheels featuring open shelving and writable corkboard surfaces enable users to segregate areas within the open office space when needed.
Wayfinding is cleverly and playfully incorporated into the space by way of bright colour-coded overhead cable-trunking, with large signage easily marking out the different areas while maintaining the concept of an open plan workspace. The fun and playful aesthetic continues in the café and chill out zones, which can be used for informal discussions.
With this project, SCA Design has considered not just the functional needs of its users, but has devised intelligent solutions that are fun and importantly, inspiring.
