A total of eight local design practices competed in P5 Studio x Montana‘s Freeplay Vol 1 last year. Freeplay is an annual design initiative and competition to promote local design talents initiated by Danish furniture brand Montana and its Singapore retailer P5 Studio. Competition entries must use Montana’s 36 modules, which are available in four depths and 42 colours – lending to virtually limitless possibilities.
P5 Studio and Montana revealed the eight stunning designs at a festive launch party on Thursday evening, 24 January 2019 at P5 Studio at 213 Henderson Road.
Montana founder Peter Larssen announced the winner of competition via a live Skype session from Montana HQ in Denmark.

A nod to HAL 9000’s mainframe in the cult-classic retro sci-fi flick 2001 A Space Odyssey, Totem is a quirky monolith designed as an occasional cabinet for daily rituals. Totem can be used as an organiser, a stand-up vanity cabinet, a reading shelf – the possibilities are endless. Users are encouraged to explore the ways Totem can assist them in their daily lives.
Totem will be featured at 3daysofdesign, one of Denmark’s most important annual design events in 2020 with Freeplay competition winners from other countries. It will compete will other Montana Freeplay winners from the region. The regional winning product at 3daysofdesgn will be added to Montana’s international collection.
We will post all eight pieces in the collection on Facebook and Instagram.
