Bamboo Costello seat wins sustainability award
November 19th, 2007
Kent Gration has been awarded the Melbourne Age Fringe Furniture Best Sustainable Design Award for his ‘Costello’ seat.
The design was among 100 other pieces on display at the Fringe Furniture exhibition during October 2007 at the Melbourne Museum.
The ‘Costello’ seat was created by Gration to showcase the versatility of sustainable material-of-the-moment – bamboo.
Part of his Wambamboo range, Gration exhibited the ‘Costello’ seat at this year’s 100% Design in London, where it gained serious attention from the global market.
Wambamboo’s philosophy is that well-designed furniture must go beyond the aspects of function and aesthetics by taking into account sustainability – the ‘Costello’ Seat is the embodiment of this.
