Venn, Perth’s new design super-space, has received top honours at the DIA WA Awards.
September 16th, 2011
Geyer and Matthews Architecture have won ’Best In State’, ’Interior Spaces – Hospitality’ and ’Interior Spaces – Retail’ for Venn at the Design Institute of Australia Western Australia Awards, announced on 2 September.
The multi-purpose space encompasses an art gallery, design shop, artist studios and bar/café.
The building is a former flour mill factory built in 1906. Many original features have been retained in the fit-out, such as the pressed tin ceiling, polished floorboards, wooden staircase and steel beams.
“We are extremely proud of the work we have done with the project team and the clients,” said Evan Reeves, Associate at Geyer.
“Venn is a significant contribution to the Perth cultural community.”
