‘WOMEN IN DESIGN’ EXHIBITION

In parallel to Indesign’s ongoing support for the National Association of Women in Construction, the Design Institute of Australia Victoria Tasmania Branch presents ‘Women In Design’, an exhibition that profiles female creative leaders from the disciplines of architecture, furniture design, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, textile design, visual art and inter-disciplinary design.

The 15 contributing designers – Celina Clarke, Debbie Ryan, Helen Kontouris, Helen Watts, Jenny Underwood, Kerstin Thompson, Kirsten Bauer, Leah Heiss, Leanne Zilka, Michaela Webb, Penelope Lee, Rae Ganim, Simone LeAmon, Sue Carr and Susan Hewitt – will delve into their catalogue of work to feature projects which tell the story of their careers.

Visitors will gain an insight into the design and development process through the presentation of plans, renderings and photographs of built projects. Scale models will sit alongside textiles, homewares, furniture, lighting and videos of projects in development.

The exhibition will feature floor talks by participating designers and a historical component in support of the tradition of women’s contribution to our built environment.

Dates: Tuesday 11 February – Saturday 22 February
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Friday 11am – 5pm, Saturday 12pm – 4pm
Location: fortyfivedownstairs – 45 Flinders Lane, Melbourne
Admission: Free
