A new exhibition allows 12 artists to explore the possibilities of paper.
June 2nd, 2011
June in Sydney means colder days and longer, frostier nights – but the city is also lighting up and heating up thanks to Vivid Sydney and all the exciting fringe events that accompany the festivities.
The A4 Paper Festival is just one of these events – a celebration of the uses of print and paper held at The Paper Mill in Sydney’s Angel Place and sponsored by Konica Minolta.
The Festival is the brainchild of designer Lisa Loxley and The Paper Convention, a talented bunch of artists and designers brought together by Loxley, all joined in their love of paper and its boundless possibilities.
As well as a series of workshops and talks, the A4 Paper Festival showcases some outstanding work by 12 paper artists from Australia and around the world – Yoshinobu Miyamoto, Hattie Newman, Benja Harney, Jesse Brown, Emma Van Leest, Anna Gleeson, Trial+Error, Matthew Roland Bannister, Bianca Chang, Benjamin Ducroz, Juan Manuel Pedraza and Kaitland Burrows.
Visually striking, the exhibition is both innovative and nostalgic – in a quirky demonstration of the power of ideas and creativity, the artists take the simple forms of print and paper and explore their possibilities to the max.
The A4 Paper Festival runs until Sunday 5 June at the Paper Mill – don’t miss this last chance to check it out!
