Lagerfeld shoots a special edition of prints celebrating Cassina's iconic 20th and 21tst Century designs

German fashion icon and eccentric aesthete, Karl Lagerfeld, has turned his hand to furniture photography for the first time in his 50 year career.  No stranger to being behind the camera, this is the first furniture assignment Lagerfeld has undertaken.

Shooting select pieces from Cassina‘s stable of historical and contemporary designs, Lagerfeld styled the furniture against a high gloss black background,  “making the object stand out, both mysterious and unusual whilst remaining a piece of furniture,” he explains, “To visually reinterpret examples of perfect design is completely new for me, and therefore stimulating, exciting even.”

Following the preview of the exhibition in Paris, Lagerfeld will create a special scenography that will animate Cassina’s historical showroom in via Durini during the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
With a combination of photographs and furniture scenography, the fashion icon will once again surprise design aficionados with his original vision of the brand.
