Over 10 billion more combinations with Alphabeta. What will you design?
October 7th, 2015
Ummmm.. WHAT!? Yes, it’s true!
Alphabeta, designed by Luca Nichetto exclusively for Hem, is the world’s first online-customizable lamp with more than 10 billion combinations. Playful, functional, and truly innovative.
Venetian designer Luca Nichetto began his career working for respected brands Salviati and Foscarini before launching his own design firm in 2006. A clutch of industry awards followed, as did a guest-of-honour spot at the imm Cologne festival. His Alphabeta collection for Hem combines innovation, joy, and ingenuity.
Close to Luca Nichetto’s own Venetian studio, the Alphabeta lamps are lovingly crafted in the centre of Venice, Italy, in one of our trusted factories. Manufactured using only the highest-quality materials and advanced technological processes, our team of skilled craftsmen ensure that what’s made in Venice will provide you with years of enjoyment.
Alphabeta shades come in 8 different shapes, each with its own color besides black and white. This creates a total of 24 available shapes, and thus more than 10 billion possible combinations of top and bottom shades when you combine four pendants.
Alphabeta shades are crafted from steel and spun by-hand on a lathe in a factory near Venice, Italy. The result is a smoothing of the metal and pristine finish, with an exceptional durability and high-quality aesthetic.
Combine the specially selected colors as you please, allowing for more than 10 billion combinations of top and bottom shades when you combine four pendants. The inner surface is powder-coated white for optimal and even light diffusion.
Available as a single wired pendant lamp or a combination of multiple independent lamps, simply attach two of your chosen shades to the heartpiece connector. It assembles in 1 minute and hangs up to 6 1/2 feet.
The Alphabeta lighting system includes an innovative pendant system, which connects two bulbs – one for each shade – allowing for a bi-directional lighting source to brighten up the spaces above and below the lamp.
HEM is distributed in Australia exclusively through District.
