Leading the way in creativity and quality, Zenith Interiors designs, manufactures and distributes authentic and innovative product for the corporate and commercial environments. Through best practice and great design Zenith helps to inspire its clients with myriad collections of furnishings that complement projects as varied as workplace, education, healthcare and hospitality. People are at the heart of the Zenith experience, from the employees who create the products to the design practices who utilise them, and so it is appropriate that supporting the INDE.Awards is yet another way to connect with those within the architecture and design community.

With Zenith’s support the 2020 INDES.Awards has been the most successful to date and this year the number of submissions increased by ten per cent more than last year. Our esteemed global jury of 16 noted industry experts were required to analyse a record 500 entries, a massive undertaking that was executed with vigour and skill.

Among the shortlisted entries this year were many practices that collaborate with Zenith on a regular basis. These architects and designers not only enjoy the excellent product range that is available but also benefit from the exceptional customer service that such a partnership brings to a project.

For example, shortlisted in the Best of the Decade I Work Space category is NAB 700 Bourke Street by Woods Bagot. This extraordinary multi-award winning project has helped to redefine the workspace on a global platform through its original and cutting-edge design and Zenith was there every step of the way.

The project features the 3000 Collection designed by Schamburg + Alvisse, the inimitable Australian designers who have been collaborating with Zenith for near a decade. Schamburg + Alvisse worked collaboratively with NAB and Woods Bagot to design the 3000 Collection and this range has since become one of the most successful collections to date for the duo.

Amanda Stanaway, Principal at Woods Bagot commented on the project, “ For the first time it redefined the way that a business, particularly a bank, would connect to customers and community by legitimately allowing you access to a bank and to be able to see its people on show…. it was also created at a point in time where Cameron Clyne (then NAB CEO) was very clear that architecturally, and from an interior point of view, it should be created sparingly and that the architecture certainly didn’t have to have layers of trappings on the top of it.“

Stanaway also talked of the relationship with Zenith, “They developed a furniture system and had to continually be agile to respond to our business in transformation…..and it (the relationship) was very pragmatic, in terms of its solution but also there was a high level of service and that’s actually what made that relationship successful.”

Zenith Best of the Best 3

Treasury Wine Estates, Carr Design. Photography by Earl Carter

In The Work Space category two projects from Carr have been shortlisted and each is an exemplar of workplace design. First is Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) a project of consummate accomplishment through the simple elegance of the design. Multiple Zenith products were specified that include, Orbis workstations with S20 screens, Repo mobile storage units, Copine and Reverse tables and Stay and Factory stools. Sprint chairs were placed in the Barrel Room, the area that TWE hosts clients for wine tastings, and the simple refinement of the Sprint design adds an extra dimension to the interior. TWS was a project that has set a new level of style for the brand and the result is an impeccable interior that ticks every box.

Molly Shelton, Associate at Carr added, “Treasury Wine Estates is a workplace project that truly brings ideas of hospitality to the fore, harking back to the brand’s roots in the vineyard. In order to achieve this the new workplace features a tasting room, retail offer and barrel room. The aesthetic is defined by darkened walls with accents of oak and tan leather. The Sean Dix Factory stools add a sleek industrial aesthetic to the bar area among the timber barrels and concrete floors.”

The second project by Carr is the Sydney workplace for the global law practice Norton Rose Fulbright. This project is all that it should be with a spectacular spiral staircase, fine detailing and a creative and sophisticated interior befitting the reputation of this international client. Bonnie Hamilton, Senior interior designer at Carr and one of the leads on the project specified Zenith products that helped translate the design intention, and with Lapalma YO side tables and EDO lounge and chair the interior is the epitome of superior design in both form and function.
