Pumphouse Point
Located smack bang in the middle of Tasmania is Pumphouse Point, a gorgeous retreat hidden on the southern hemisphere’s deepest lake. Design hotels don’t come much nicer – part luxury stay, part wilderness retreat, Pumphouse is surrounded by breathtaking the fjord-like surrounds of Lake St Clair, giant myrtle forests, and wilderness that suggests that perhaps mother nature is the best designer of them all. Not the say the hotel itself doesn’t charm – rustic, genuine design and log fire places will keep the warmth of summer in your heart even amidst Tasmania’s cooler climate.

The Old Clare
Stretching across two iconic heritage-listed Sydney buildings, The Clare Hotel sees 62 boutique rooms channelling the aesthetics of the classic, with the comfort of the contemporary. Situated along Sydney’s re-developed Kensington Street precinct in the heart of the city, The Old Clare Hotel is Australia’s first from the unconventional Unlisted Collection, which marries a rich, varied history and architecture with the creature comforts you’d expect from a luxury hotel. The hotel is just minutes from Chippendale’s dozens of art galleries, production houses, graphic and fashion design studios, as well as Sydney’s most exciting new restaurants, cafés and bars.

Jackalope Hotel
South of Melbourne, in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula is the Jackalope Hotel. Set within a pristine property inside the world-famous Mornington Peninsula wine region, the hotel boasts an intoxicating vineyard acreage framing its grounds – an indulgent hotel whose design is as eye catching and unique as its destination. With 46 designer dens for you to choose from, your design senses will appreciate the lavish interiors and custom-made comforts in the face of while floor-to-ceiling windows to appreciate the outdoor beauty.

Pier One
Built on and over the water, Pier One on Sydney Harbour is renowned and iconic for a reason. The hotel celebrates the heritage of Sydney and exemplifies the luxury of the city in its contemporary state. The Walsh Bay hotel combines federation-style décor and design with contemporary flourishes and an enviable location and views right alongside Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Tribe Hotel Perth
Located on the burgeoning doorstep of the popularly expanding Perth CBD, Tribe Perth (recently profiled here on Indesign Live) is based right by Kings Park and minutes away from some of the western capital’s premier restaurants, bars and tourist attractions. With interiors designed by Travis Walton Architecture, the space is an experiment in the role of the designer to “edit luxury” – and provide everything the modern traveller needs – and nothing they don’t. The communal areas are designed as social spaces and co-working spaces, where travellers can open up their laptop and feel comfortable working away, or can share a drink or a coffee with their fellow travellers.
