Organised by Red Dot and implemented by the Xiamen Culture Media Group, China Good Design Awards is the first independent international design competition in China. The award recognises the outstanding works by companies both locally and abroad, and brings them to the attention of the huge – and increasingly sophisticated – China market. And entries are open for its fourth edition.
Designers from all over the world with products manufactured using an industrial production process are invited to submit their designs. The products must have been marketed within the past three years. The competition leverages Red Dot’s many years of experience and strict evaluation. Submissions to this year’s competition will be assessed by an international jury made up of 12 independent industry experts, including Gordon Bruce of Gordon Bruce Design and Mårten Claesson of Claesson Koivisto Rune.
The jury will take judge the entries based on the degree of innovation, product periphery, functionality, durability and ecological compatibility. The competition covers a total of 47 diverse categories, from Living Rooms and Bedrooms to Interior Design, Urban Design and Public Spaces, Babies and Children, Jewellery, Sports, Communication, and more.
Winning products will receive the distinctions of ‘Gold Winner’, ‘Winner’ or ‘Honourable Mention’. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to exchange ideas with the jurors in a Meet the Jury session, and be part of the grand award ceremony and Designers’ Night.
The winners of China Good Design 2018 will receive wide-ranging media coverage, and the opportunity to present their company and innovative products on a national stage. The award-winning products will also be showcased in a special exhibition during Xiamen International Design Week – Red Dot in China.
Early bird submission runs from 8 April to 16 May 2018, regular submission from 17 May to 6 July 2018 and latecomer submission from 7 to 29 July 2018.
A selection of the award-winning products from the programme’s past editions will be on display at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany from 3 May to 3 June 2018 in an exhibition titled China Good Design: New Asian Moods and Award-Winning Products.
