Australand, in partnership with St Hilliers and Citta Property Group, has launched the new Carlton Lume Precinct in Carlton, Melbourne.

A group of prominent Australian architects have teamed up to create Lume, a new residential development in the inner-city suburb of Carlton in Melbourne.

An all-star team is behind the project, with internationally renowned architect Daryl Jackson having designed the masterplan of the precinct and three award-winning Melbourne architects contributing a building each.

Fender Katsalidis architects were the creative minds behind Aura, the first of the Lume apartments to be opened on the weekend, which has already sold out. Behind the white and yellow façade of Aura is a range of 33, one and two bedroom apartments on offer.

Melbourne-based firm Jackson Clements Burrows are responsible for designing the second apartment block, Allure (pictured in top image), which comprises 45 apartments over 6 storeys and are now selling.

Architecture and heritage consultancy firm Lovell Chen are providing conservation advice to ensure the streetscape remains true to the 1860s -1920s adjoining heritage buildings of the former Queen Elizabeth Centre.

“What will be most appealing to potential investors is that this is not a high rise development,” explains Sarah Bloom, Australand’s State Manager for Apartments.

“The low-rise boutique development maintains an overall height of four levels”.

The precinct’s overall design has also implemented a number of environmentally sustainable design features such as rainwater harvesting for landscape reuse, grey water supply to toilets, drought tolerant landscape design, materials selection and solar gas-boosted hot water systems.
