Insight Body and Mind, a new multidisciplinary studio focused on holistic wellbeing in Melbourne, offers a sensory design experience. It is the place to go to review, revitalise, regenerate and refresh – all in the most beautiful surroundings.

While the health of our minds and bodies are paramount these days, it has seldom been possible to combine the analytical process of talking to a psychologist with the restorative workout of a fitness studio, all at one destination – until now.
Creating a bold new business, Insight Psychology has evolved into Insight Body and Mind with stunning new premises in Aberfeldie, Victoria.
The designer for Insight Body and Mind is Biasol Studio, with principal Jean-Pierre Biasol as lead on the project. What has been created is a bespoke environment that soothes the soul and stimulates the muscles to bring wellness through amenity, form and function.
As well as creating the interior, Biasol contributed branding, signage and wayfinding design as well as overseeing construction of the project.
“Insight came to us with a vision to evolve its practice into a more integrative experience with psychology and mindful movement. They wanted to set a new path forward with a holistic approach to both body and mind,” says Biasol.
Insight comprises three levels with the reception, waiting area and consulting rooms on the ground floor, movement studios for mat pilates, yoga and barre on the first level and above this a space for reformer pilates.
Biasol has intentionally designed the interior with a layered colour and material narrative that represent the two overlapping elements of the business. On the ground floor, deep teal and green tones abound and denote the psychology practice while, above, the two studio levels feature graduating tones of salmon and pink.
While each colour palette is completely different, the continuum is the materiality that helps to unify the interior.
Throughout, Venetian plaster walls create texture and become a muted backdrop to the two colour themes. The ground floor features the deep teal and green in colour blocks and Cipollino Ondulato Rosso stone is stunning on the reception desk, bathroom vanities and kitchen.

The use of this stone is a dramatic inclusion with veining indicative of the flow and movement that is at the heart of the Insight practice.
Moving to the first floor, there is a world of salmon pink with a Fibonacci Pavlova terrazzo floor and a Karaman pink stone counter. The pink tones soften on the third level and here Fibonacci Softshell terrazzo is underfoot. Establishing authenticity, Biasol has utilised the palladiana terrazzo mosaic technique when laying the terrazzo.
While the interior is indeed dramatic in parts, and soothing in others, there is no doubt that the whole space is an inspiring environment in which to work, learn and play.
As well as designing the interior Biasol also developed the branding for Insight, creating the logo with the ‘g’ in Insight representative of the body.
This branding has been reinforced through all the business and marketing collateral, neon signage and decals, as well as merchandise such as drink bottles, apparel and workout equipment.
Biasol comments, “We designed the interior and branding to inspire and empower positive change. This unified approach and distinctive concept has produced a strong identity for Insight and differentiation of its offering.”
As a practice Biasol has carved out a place in the architecture and design community both here and overseas. The studio is renowned for its residential, hospitality and commercial projects, as well as furniture design.
Each project is site and client specific but always there is a new perspective to capture the imagination and excite the senses. With Insight, Biasol has produced a stellar design that takes a place of wellness to another level of sophistication.
Insight is just the place to visit to keep mind and body in shape. Not only does it supply all the services for health but the interior design is both exemplary and innovative.
Biasol has once again created a timeless and original design that speaks of people, community and place. Now to make a reservation!
