The convergence of auto and urban interiors is celebrated with this collaborative collection from Smart Car and BoConcept

To reflect the design language of the smart fortwo, the Danish home wares and furniture supplier have teamed up to produce a select range that brings the auto-appeal into your living room and inject your driving experience with a homely touch.

Both brands found resonance in their shared pursuit of space efficient design outcomes; achieving desirable urban living without having to compromise on style or quality.

“The first premise of smart is to make life more colourful and stress-free in the cities. For us this job is done when people arrive happily and safely at home. And right on the doorstep, BoConcept takes over. Together we offer people the perfect solutions for urban life – for busy streets and cosy living,” says Martin Hülder from smart.

Exploring these parallels, smart and BoConcept’s design teams came together exchanging their design processes, research and importantly: material knowledge.

A shared learning and cross pollination of otherwise contrasting industries has afforded the venture a freshness and vibrancy that expands on the consumer perception of both manufacturers within their respective markets, as Claus Ditlev Jensen from BoConcept explains:

“For BoConcept, the car industry is a business that we like to follow and seek inspiration from. Their technology, use of materials and ideas on shapes can be transferred to the home. And just like us, smart also has to ensure function and comfort so they benefit from our inputs to achieve a cosy interior without losing the edge in the appearance of the car.”

The Smartville Furniture collection of sofas, lounge chairs, tables and accessories will be available directly through BoConcept from April 2013.
