What does your company supply?

Condari has manufactured and sold Qasair Rangehoods and Condor Rangehoods for over 40 years in Melbourne. Condari also sells an Alfresco Solution which includes the Thurlo hotplate, Aero barbecue as well as the Condor Rangehood. Condari also sells the Maxmatic food waste disposal unit which is imported from England.

What’s the history of your company (how did it start)?

Qasair Rangehoods were initially invented by a German engineer living in Melbourne. The product was bought and then developed further by John F Keating and John M Keating who are equal partners in the ownership of Condari but of no relation. John F Keating now heads in the sales and administration divisions of Condari and John M Keating is in charge of manufacturing at the factory in Ringwood. Condari has grown from a local company to a medium sized company with a factory in Ringwood and offices around Australia and distributors in New Zealand and South East Asia.

Where do you distribute?

Condari distributes around Australia and also New Zealand and South East Asia.

Describe your customers?

Condari’s customers are looking for a high quality, functional product. Their primary concern is the air movement of the rangehoods combined with the low noise levels achieved by solid ducting and insulating the body of the hoods. Frequently they have had experience with other products on the market and are now looking for a product that not only is stylish but more importantly will do the job.

What sets your company apart?

Condari not only manufactures the highest quality rangehoods, it is the only company that is able to custom manufacture rangehoods. This puts Condari in a unique position with architects and designers that require a product that they not only can be confident specifying but also can be tailored to their design. Condari is also the only company that offers rangehoods made in chemically etched coloured and textured stainless steel found the Qasair’s Sapphire range.

What are your client’s priorities at the moment?

Our clients’ priority is and always has been functionality of the products. Although our products are known to be beautiful and have been incorporated into many award winning designs because of their good looks, we know that our clients will never be happy with sub standard performance no matter how pleasing to the eye. We therefore make performance and functionality of our products our priority too and we will never compromise on functionality for the sake of beauty.

What is good design to you?

Good design is a design that is firstly and foremostly functional. Functionality is the aspect of design that underpins our business philosophy.

What does the future hold?

Condari is developing a revolutionary new plasma rangehood. This rangehood will use plasma technology which converts odour molecules into odourless oxygen and hydrogen. This technology has been used in the space craft industry and the industrial food industry to deodorise air. As these rangehoods do not require ducting to be effective, they will revolutionise apartment living.
