A Barcelona-based collective of industrial designers pair function with feeling

For some, a sprawling urban landscape might be the epitome of oppression, but for this fearless foursome the not-so-bleak metropolis serves as inspiration for their unique designs.

Formed by four designers from three different continents, the members of The Emotion Lab are Christian Vivanco, Tom Allen, Marta Falcón and Yago Rodríguez, respectively from Mexico, Australia and Spain.  

The young founders of take a less traditional approach to design, discovering an aesthetic appeal in the everyday obstacles that populate our city centres.

Designs that evoke sentiment from the quotidian are created in their Spanish studio, and their first collections ‘Inside Urban’, ‘Out of Scale’ and ‘Experimental Lighting’ are as functional as they are fun.

Skies filled with antennae serve as the inspiration for the ‘Antenna hanger’ – a coat, hat, scarf or umbrella hanger with neon-green detachable arms.

Scaffolding takes a more appealing angle than disguising world famous monuments as the idea at the heart of their floor to ceiling storage shelves.
