Pre-eminent photographers such as John Gollings, Dianna Snape, Rhiannon Slatter, Nicole England, Peter Clarke, Brett Boardman, Peter Bennetts and Shannon McGrath (to name but a few) are exhibiting images alongside emerging talent and the group has come together to present the diversity of the built environment and their own prodigious talents.

Ryan Linnegar, Afternoon – Central.

Where would we be without the professional lens of architecture and design photographers? They document our world, help us understand who we are, where we have come from and where we are going and this exhibition does all this with aplomb. The theme of the exhibition is to consider that ‘one shot’ that defines a place, a building or practice and as can be seen, the idea has many and various interpretations from such a dynamic and expert collective.

The event is the first for the recently founded Image Makers Association, an organisation representing professional and emerging photographers through education and industry connection. It was created to help protect and promote the rights of professional photographers in Australia but also celebrates the work of its membership.

And celebrate ability and style it certainly does. With more than 40 images on display, every photograph is a revelation of differing points of view that brings architecture and design, people and places to life. The collection has been curated with flair and all prints are available to purchase.

Seldom is there the opportunity to see such an array of fine work from so many of Australia’s best creative photographers and this is a not to be missed exhibition. 1 SHOT 22 – Defining moments in the Built Environment is free to attend and on display at Sun Studios in South Melbourne from 10 November until 16 December 2022.
