Artistic inspiration from the iconic children’s show for Sydney’s Semi-Permanent.
March 16th, 2010
Marking the 40th anniversary of one of the world’s most famous children television shows, the design world is teaming up with the cheery likes of Big Bird and Ernie to bring you a limited edition collection of t-shirts.
Founder and publisher of T-world – a bi-annual publication focussed on the design element of t-shirts – Eddie Zammit dreamed up this graphic collaboration to put the “street back in Sesame Street”.
Brought to you by the ‘Letter T: T-world’s Artist Collaboration with Sesame Street exhibition’ will take place alongside the Semi-Permanent 2010 conference, featuring the creations of talented designers printed on limited edition t-shirts.
“They said we’d never make it, but T-world gained access to the Sesame Street set in New York and returned with a collaboration to rival all others: Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, The Count, Grover, Oscar the Grouch and Snuffy are all on board,” said Zammit of the quirky concept.
As well as the letter T, eight is the number on the street, with eight leading designers from all over the globe pairing up with eight Sesame Street Muppets to create these inspired designs.
All designers enjoyed an exclusive one-on-one briefing with their Muppet character to truly capture the essence of what defines each character.
Among the designers involved, Frost* Design is teaming up with Ernie, the Cookie Monster is interpreted by creative director Marc Atlan, meanwhile Tri Vo, designer of Australian street wear label Syke, proves a perfect match for Big Bird with his fine illustrations.
From 19 until 21 March 2010, the pop-up Exhibition by aMBUSH Gallery will take place at The Pavilion, Darling Park.
