Currently on display at Melbourne’s Pin Up Gallery, Boyd’s Error: Planning’s Curse sets out to change the way we perceive Australian urbanism.
November 8th, 2011
Boyd’s Error: Planning’s Curse. Reflections on The Australian Ugliness (TAU) is the latest exhibition at Pin Up Architecture & Design Project Space in Melbourne’s Collingwood.
The exhibition explores Australian urbanism in the form of a photo collage depicting 3 different versions of the Gertrude, Brunswick, Johnston and Smith Street Fitzroy block – one as the architecture might have looked if constructed during more stable economic times and with stricter city planning regulations; one as it exists today, and one as it may look in the future if developed irrespective of current planning regulations.
A fascinating look at Australian Urbanism, neighbourhood character and heritage planning policies.
Boyd’s Error: Planning’s Curse runs until 26 November.
