Omar Khan offers exquisitely handcrafted rugs made from pure wool or bamboo silk, featuring layered motifs and captivating colours to create statement pieces for your interior.
A collection that impresses with its exquisitely crafted statement pieces, inspires with its artfully layered motifs and captivating colour palettes, and enchants with its artisanal techniques – Omar Khan Rugs add the perfect finishing touch to any interior, binding together all the different elements in a distinctive ensemble of textures and tones.
Designer Omar Khan takes inspiration from his rich multicultural, mixed heritage background to reinvent the humble rug, referencing ancient symbols and historical motifs, and reinterpreting those using modern abstract themes and contemporary colours. Spirited or subtle, each design composition in the collection represents handcrafted perfection, combining the finest of natural fibres with beautiful textures and colours to make an impact at first sight.
The striking hand-tufted design of an Omar Khan rug with its distinctive pile is the outcome of a painstaking process, bringing together art, craft, technique and material to create each statement piece. Only natural fibres are used in the creation of Omar Khan rugs to ensure durability, versatility and easy maintenance. A significant part of the rug collection uses wool with a naturally soft feel sourced from New Zealand. Bamboo silk is also a preferred medium with select designs made from this especially soft and silky material with hypoallergenic and anti-microbial characteristics.
A favourite of interior designers in residential as well as commercial projects, Omar Khan rugs have been specified for Norman Foster’s The Troika (Kuala Lumpur), Lane Crawford (Chengdu), On Pedder/Joyce (Hong Kong), and Biyan Living (Jakarta).
