Hong Kong designer Steve Leung will head the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers in 2017.
November 12th, 2015
Hong Kong took its place on the global design stage with Steve Leung’s appointment as President of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) for 2017.
Founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1963, IFI was established to lead the interior design discipline, to grow the profession, to connect designers around the world, and to raise standards and adopt best practices. The institute is a non-profit organisation and it represents around 270,000 individuals, comprising designers, industry stakeholders and educators.

Hong Kong designer Steve Leung
Leung is one of Hong Kong’s best-known architects and designers. He established Steve Leung Designers Ltd. in 1997, with offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. Leung is also co-founder of 1957 & Co., which delivers stylish F&B venues that adhere to Leung’s personal motto, “Enjoy Life, Enjoy Design.” He also established C Foundation in 2014, teaming up with Mainland China and Taiwan to advocate design education and to nurture design in these nations.
In his pre-election bid, Leung told the 27th IFI General Assembly in that he plans to devote himself to community service. “If I succeed in being elected as President of IFI, I would like to say IFI does not belong to any individual, country or region,” said Leung. It belongs to you and me – to all of us. We will not be self-serving or playing politics, but will support and encourage the global interior design industry as a family.”
