The Golden Pin Design Award 2015 celebrated huaren design with a stellar event that showcased the very best designs from Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.
December 29th, 2015
The Golden Pin Design Award 2015 culminated in an impressive ceremony on 10 December – one that demonstrated the artistry and creative thinking of designers from Chinese-speaking (huaren) communities.
The Golden Pin Design Award recognises design that is specifically created for and by huaren communities. Sponsored by Canmeg AVEDA, the award covers categories ranging from product and packaging to spatial design and visual communications.
Best Design winners from the Spatial Design category included the Seashore Public Library, Aranya, by Vector Architects for Tianxingjiuzhou Real Estate Development Co.; Xihe Cereals and Oils Museum and Villagers’ Activity Center by China Central Academy of Fine Arts for the Villager Cooperative of Xihe Village; and Eslite Hotel by EHS Archilab.
The ceremony was held at the Eslite Spectrum Songyan store’s Performance Hall within Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taiwan, and the event, like the award itself, showcased Asian talent. Motion graphics studio JL Design – which hails from Taiwan – curated the ceremony, while TV anchor Lulu Hsia hosted the event. The guest list included many design names; along with other huaren guests, they were treated to two beautiful performances, including one by SEMIFUSA, a group of Taiwanese string musicians. Canadian artist Herman Kolgen performed at the start of the ceremony.
All in all, it was a spectacular evening that celebrated the growing importance of huaren design on the world stage.
