My hipster kids, nature, Mark Pollack
The moment you knew you wanted to be a designer.
Studying cassette covers of Prince and Duran Duran growing up in the 1980’s.
Favourite local landmark/building.
The church in my village. When I see that enormous steeple I know I am almost home.
Favourite material.
Not picky.
Favourite international landmark/building.
Much missed World Trade Center.
Biggest career moment.
Lots of little moments, every time I come across one of my textiles in use.
Dream project to work on (real or imaginary).
I’d love to work on textiles for a social services space that doesn’t have a “design budget” but might be used by people who would really appreciate a beautiful space.
Dream person to collaborate with.
Fred Astaire. I would want to learn to dance with him, not design textiles with him!
Favourite decade of design.
The 1990’s when good design became more easily accessible to the masses.
Favourite chair.
Whatever is offered when I am wearing heels.
#1 concern for the design industry in the coming decade.
The loss of creative suppliers and unique technologies during a bad economy.
Which items in the workplace can you not live without?
Natural light, technology, sketch paper.
The most unusual/interesting thing about the way you work.
It is probably not interesting, but I spend a lot of time alone in my studio. That is why the people that I do get to work with are almost as important as the product I am working on.
