The headquarters of the recently merged Financial Ombudsman Service in Melbourne’s Docklands is flexible and open to future growth.
June 7th, 2011
Having recently merged various separate entities, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) required a united workplace that connected the different business groups.
The project team at Metier3 – Michael Hrysomallis, Sally Edelsen, David Hannon, Nathalia Suizu and Amanda Flude – created a space with a central heart and shared facility surrounded by workpoints for the various departments.
A warm but neutral palate was chosen, accented with colour by way of key furniture pieces in the common areas. The designers sought to achieve a seamless integration of the various materials.
Sustainable design principles were the basis for the project and can be seen in the layout and services design.
Workstations are clustered around a floor-to-ceiling glazed perimeter, allowing for plenty of natural light and minimising the demand for artificial lighting.
The office is heated via a raised access floor for a quiet, quality solution.
The Metier3 team describe the new FOS workplace as “an open plan working environment with modular workstations for future churn and flexibility.”
