Plastic is celebrated as a noble material in this short film by Kartell.
November 26th, 2014
Kartell celebrates its journey in raising plastic to the rank of ‘noble material’ in the design industry.
Through a play of light and shadow the iconic Kartell products reveal their intrinsic movement of subtraction. The most classic film techniques were used in the shooting; special effects were picked up directly on camera by analogue reproduction without the use of digital tools or post production work
At the same time, the video reveals the design concept behind the products and Kartell’s aesthetic and technological challenges as the first company in the world to use transparent polycarbonate in furniture in a single mould injection process.
The protagonists in the film are veritable icons of the concept of transparent design, namely La Marie, Louis Ghost, Bourgie, Mr Impossible, Ghost Buster, Invisible Table, and Uncle Jack.
Kartell is carried in Singapore at Space Furniture.
