Back with a stronger festival vision with more than 50 exciting events over 10 days, Singapore Design Week (SDW) is bound to have something for everyone. The new SDW is set to shine the spotlight on Singapore’s design strengths. Grounded by three pillars – Design Futures, Design Marketplace and Design Impact – this premier design festival will see a stellar line-up of 200 designers and creatives.
Get a sense of Singapore as a futuristic city of design and innovation economy with Design Futures, which looks at the future of design and design of the future in a time when humanity is grappling with complex challenges. This pillar focuses on an optimistic future for Singapore and the world through the lens of a forward-looking Singapore. Helmed by design curator and author Paola Antonelli from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Design Futures Symposium will feature distinguished thought leaders from Singapore and around the world to explore how design is fundamental to the strategies for the future and progress.
The Design Marketplace pillar is anchored by FIND – Design Fair Asia, Asia’s newest and largest furniture, interiors and design fair. FIND – Global Summit, led by design tastemakers Tony Chambers and Yoko Choy of Wallpaper* magazine, will spark conversations with design opinion leaders on key trends and topics.
The third pillar, Design Impact, showcases innovative real-life solutions to highlight design as a driving force for transformation. The public can check out Singapore’s most impactful designs through the President*s Design Award (P*DA) tours and the Good Design Research pop-up, among other things. Here are eight signatures event not to be missed.
Some of the topics of discussion include design approaches to complexity, systems and prototypes; generative design; designing for local and global challenges such as ageing populations and dense, low-carbon cities; optimising human experience within the rest of nature; and the role of design and technology for a better and more inclusive future.

Organised by Fiera Milano and dmg events, FIND will gather interior brands, key opinion leaders, designers and content from East and West. FIND – Design Fair Asia is Asia’s newest and largest furniture, interiors and design fair. Design opinion leaders will speak on critical trends and topics including the metaverse, biophilia and sustainability at FIND – Global Summit.

A Southeast Asian design talent showcase at EMERGE @ FIND, curated by Suzy Annetta, will shine the spotlight on more than 50 designers from the region. They include top designers from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines and emerging designers from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Led by Potato Head and co-curated with Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), the National Design Centre (NDC) will be transformed into a three-month-long exhibition that celebrates re-use, re-cycle, re-craft, and re-live. This storytelling multimedia exhibit kicks off with activations, talks, panels and activities involving many of its collaborators.

President*s Design Award (P*DA) is Singapore’s highest honour for designers and design projects across all disciplines. The public can experience first-hand some of Singapore’s most outstanding, innovative and impactful architecture and place-making projects with the launch of the President*s Design Award (P*DA) Tours through self-guided journeys and immersive tours.

Good Design Research was launched by DesignSingapore Council in March 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic to empower designers and design enterprises in Singapore while supporting them with a wide network of knowledge partners. At the Good Design Research (GDR) pop-up curated by design studio WY-TO, see the positive impact of good design achieved through Purpose, Practice and Play by over 20 GDR designers.

This fashion-focused takeover of Raffles City Shopping Centre features several key programmes that explore the possibilities of fashion in an increasingly decentralised and digital post-pandemic world. This creative placemaking festival with alternate storytelling of the Little India district demonstrates how design can be a tool to spotlight heritage.
