The Steelcase Flex Perch Stool creates spaces for fluid, spontaneous collaboration while allowing employees to stay fully engaged in mind and body.
May 26th, 2022
Today’s agile workspaces feature an ecosystem of spaces designed to adapt to different work styles, whether it be group collaboration or private focused work. It is important not to overlook the transitional, in-between spaces that are essential for us to recharge our mental and physical energy, and keep us connected with our colleagues.
The latest addition to the Steelcase Flex Collection, the Flex Perch Stool provides a place to briefly pause for fluid, spontaneous collaboration, while encouraging a leaning stance that relieves pressure, engages the core and promotes healthy posture. With its one-piece design moulded from Ultramid® B3EG6 Ccycled™ nylon material, this nestable seating solution offers a quick place to sit at an ideal angle of 7.2 degrees – the perfect resting point between standing and sitting.

The act of perching promotes an open pelvic angle that discourages slouching, and enables better breathing by keeping the chest open. This dynamic posture invites movement, activates the mind and optimises collaborative behaviours and ideation.
Super lightweight, with glides that work on hard floors and carpet, the Flex Perch allows teams to adapt spaces on the fly. Fan them out across the room for a quick think or sharing session, or create active learning spaces on demand. When not in use, these stools can be nested in a compact row, allowing organisations to save space and maximise efficiency.
Derived from a collaboration with BASF, Steelcase Flex Perch is the first furniture product that reduces the use of fossil resources and its carbon footprint through CCycling. This innovation in sustainability transforms post-consumer waste from manufacturing electronics into a high strength nylon that is ideal for furniture design.

Designed after observing how high-performing, hyper-collaborative teams work and understanding what they need to perform at their best, the Steelcase Flex Collection is Steelcase’s answer for this new era of hybrid working. The collection features a range of flexible and reconfigurable workplace solutions that give dynamic teams and individuals the flexibility to adapt their space to meet their rapidly-changing work activities.
The Steelcase Flex Height-Adjustable Desk, for example, promotes mobility, wellbeing and convenience with its directional rollers, easy to change worksurface height and integrated power options. It is available with the Active Touch controller and Rise app, which allow users to create a profile with preset desk heights and preferred intervals of sitting and standing.

Designed in collaboration with Anker, the Steelcase Flex Mobile Power unit takes mobility to the next level. This sleek, ultra-mobile power solution allows users to charge their laptops and personal devices anywhere, making workplaces more fluid than ever before, and empowering teams to work wherever they need to.

Every team needs a home and with Steelcase Flex Active Frames it is easy to create one that is productive, flexible and inspiring. Active Frames are not only used to define team neighborhoods across a floorplan, but they also offer multi-use functionality, such as integrated personal lockers, storage shelves, pin boards and more, to allow teams to create their ideal space.

A trusted name in workplace design, Steelcase supports interior designers, real estate professionals and users to redefine the modern workplace with a broad range of architecture, furniture, and technology solutions.
