Steelcase walked away from the 60th annual Good Design Awards with two pieces of gold – for its Navi TeamIsland and Series 1 seating.
The Steelcase team took home double honours at the latest Good Design Awards Ceremony, the oldest and among the most respected design awards in Australia.
The Navi TeamIsland and Series 1 designs each received a coveted Good Design Award for Product Design and were among the record 536 design entries the awards saw this year.
For Steelcase – whose products and services are centred around the physical, emotional and cognitive wellbeing in the workplace – it was an honour to be celebrated and recognised for the company’s commitment to innovation and quality in design.
The Navi TeamIsland is a triumph of engagement, growth and efficiency, informed by extensive research into workplace needs and behaviours. The island is for people who choose to vary their postures throughout the workday: offering a variety of settings so people can change from one posture to another seamlessly, without interrupting workflow. The Navi TeamIsland is available in both desk height and HighSit, to support a range of sitting and standing postures.
“It’s nice to see a standing option in the office environment,” the Good Design Awards Jury commented, “The quality of manufacture is nothing short of brilliant. This is good design coupled with great material and fit for purpose finish.”
The Series 1 is championing seating performance and style, delivering an impactful proposition for workspace seating. The product range boasts choice and comfort, all contained in a refreshingly slim profile and footprint for its class.
For creative workplaces seeking to bolster productivity while expressing their own unique brand identity, Series 1’s dynamic selection of knit, flexor and lumbar colours, and wide range of shell and finish options, allows for rich customisations.
“Simple, elegant and with a nice execution of adjustability,” the jury commented, “The Series 1 is a sophisticated piece of design that is well made, super comfortable and as practical as it gets.”
