The German car manufacturer takes out this year’s newly created ’red dot: client of the year’ award.
November 4th, 2010
The international red dot award, which receives more than 12, 000 submissions from more than 60 countries, is the largest and most renowned design competition in the world.
Audi received the accolade, which honours ‘an exceptionally courageous and decisive client, who has been particularly successful in the current competition and has stood out with extraordinarily creative entries.’
The automobile manufacturer fit the bill, impressing the judging panel and winning 16 awards in the red dot award: communication design category.
Prof Peter Zec, president of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and initiator of the red dot design award praised Audi for its clever marketing:
‘For many years Audi has successfully positioned itself as a premium brand’, says Zec. ‘The brand’s core message ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ (advantage through technology) and the brand values ‘high-quality’, ‘sportiness’ and ‘progressiveness’ are implemented in an exemplary manner in a wide range of media and communication materials’.
The different design agencies working for Audi will be presented with a further 16 prizes at the awards ceremony at the red dot museum in Essen, Germany on December 8.
The ‘red dot: agency of the year award 2010’ was won by Germany’s leading marketing agency BBDO for their creativity in designing brand experiences.
All prize-winning works from the competition will be on show at the special exhibition, ‘Design on Stage’ at the red dot museum from 9th December to 9th January.
