The retail Design Institute has just announced the inaugural Retail Design award for the best creative use of a retail space.

The awards aims to recognise Architects, Retail Designer and Visual Merchandisers who have created outstanding windows displays, or entire stores or food outlets.
Entries can come from a non-shopping centre environment and must be an installation within the Australian States and Territories.
The project must have been completed between 1 June 2008 and 31 December 2009. Entries must include 10 digital photographs, initial budget information, and actual cost of the installation, and 100 words or less describing the completed project.

The winner will be announced in February 2010 at a Retail Design Institute function.
