Design for a cause: Free Flow by Milliken

The flooring brand’s new design collection helps elevate interior spaces, while also supporting the Property Industry Foundation’s initiatives.

As one of the world’s most ethical and sustainable companies, Milliken is constantly exploring pathways to enhance spaces as well as people’s lives. By creating a positive impact with a holistic approach to design and manufacturing, the brand ensures its products are fit for purpose which complement interior environments – aesthetically and functionally.

Lately, they’ve created a stir with their social initiatives that support and advance our communities. In line with their corporate social responsibility, the brand is now a National Corporate Donor of the Property Industry Foundation (PIF), actively engaging in fundraising initiatives and volunteer programs to help build homes for homeless youths in Australia.

Naturally they are motivated about driving their “purpose-orientated” pathway initiatives and helping raise awareness about PIF in the industry. And, as part of their commitment to PIF, Milliken will be contributing a percentage of revenue earned from every specification received for their newly launched Free Flow carpet tile collection.

Free Flow is the first of many collections that will work effectively towards PIF’s goal in building 125 bedrooms from now until 2021, to give the homeless youth a place they can call home.

The collection – inspired by life’s everyday flow – embraces shapes, patterns and colours. There is an evident emphasis on natural details, making the collection a beautiful addition to a variety of interior spaces in need of aesthetic and functional transformations. The designs make for a particularly great choice for new or retrofit installations.

Drawing from this inspiration, four designs were created for Free Flow with natural colourways to set the foundation of the collection – Fog, Foundation, Muslin and Path. Each design has subtle hints of texture, organic, linear and ombre effects, creating simple and refined patterns.  Selected accent colourways were introduced to bring the collection to life and provide another striking element.

Milliken is also known to personalise the design experience by leveraging their Millitron Dye Injection technology, to create custom designs or colour concepts that align with their clients’ requirements. It ensures the ability to stamp their clients I.D on their projects – creating “Infinite Designs” which re-defines and simplifies customisation.

The collection is backed by the latest in technology too. It comes with open-cell WellBAC™ cushion-backed construction to help the floor withstand relative humidity (RH) and potential hydrogen (pH), in turn eliminating any issues relating to moisture in concrete slabs. For those looking to reduce timelines between product selection and delivery, Free Flow offers a Quick Ship service, guaranteeing delivery five days from date of order.

Free Flow is quite literally the best of both worlds. While it elevates interior spaces, it’s also helping raise funding and awareness in the industry for a worthwhile cause.
