A 30-year-old deli is transformed into a café and wine bar in Sydney’s Mosman Village.
’Mews’ is an old British term for a row of stables built around a courtyard, opening out onto a service lane.

Chris Wilks and Ed Kenny from Giant Design took this literal translation – taken from The Mews laneway in which the site is located – and turned 30-year-old deli into a more stylish new take on a stables.

Mirrors are used to play with the viewer’s perspective – the central arch looks as if it’s suspended in thin air, and the mirror-lined back wall adds extra depth to the space.
Lighting is used sparingly for an ambient glow.
