In response to increasing demand for quality collaborative design for a growing client base across South East Asia, the company has expanded its presence in the region.

The twelfth Hassell studio was completed earlier in 2010, with Singapore chosen as the ideal location for the company to focus its growth.

“The expanded regional presence through our new Singapore studio enables Hassell to broaden the innovative design service we can offer to Singapore clients locally and importantly back into the region,” said Philip Hannaford, Director of the South East region for Hassell.

“This represents a major milestone for the commitment of our practice to South East Asia – a region we know to be extremely dynamic and welcoming, and one in which the opportunities for design leadership and innovation are immense,” said Hassell Chairman, Professor Ken Maher.

In a further big move for Hassell, November saw the relocation of the company’s Shanghai studio to an exciting new space.

A converted motorcycle factory is now home to Hassell’s Shanghai team, providing an open, collaborative environment and continuing Hassell’s tradition of repurposing disused spaces.

The building was recognised in China’s Most Successful Design Awards 2010 for its innovative workplace design and commitment to sustainability.
