Australian wallpaper design company reveals black on black is ’the new black’ in 2009.

Afficionados of the Nod won the Best Fabric Award at last year’s designEX – their second in four years. This year they’ve released their ‘Opulent Black’ range, which is bound to attract as much attention.

The new base wallpaper comes in 7 pattern ranges as well as in a ‘Tone on Tone’ colour palette (Black on Black). There’s something incredibly textural about the brooding black-on-black patterns. “The Tone on Tone colour range is very sophisticated because it’s about the subtle effect of pattern,” says Design Director Tip Gloria.

“It’s for those with a developed eye for design and who are looking to add pattern without adding additional colour.”

Afficionados of the Nod always aim to source Australian produced sustainable fabrics and materials for all their products, with all their wallpapers manufactured in Australia.

“We only use natural fabrics, our cotton bases are grown in Australia and we only use imported hemp and hemp-silk base fabric as none is grown locally,” Gloria says.

“All our printing is done in Australia, using low toxicity inks with low VOCs [Volatile Organic Compounds].”

Afficionados of the Nod may well be ahead of the trends with their ‘Opulent Black’, and understated ‘Black on Black’.
