&Tradition launches Rotate: an inspired trolley which integrates unique elemental qualities into highly functional design.
May 1st, 2023
The asymmetrical trolley which can do it all: Rotate was engineered to suite a wide variety of purposes, from office trolley to bedside table or bathroom storage unit. Subtle design flourishes elevate both the aesthetic and practicality of this multifunctional piece, which sits on discrete wheels to ensure maximum manoeuvrability. Rotate can be seamlessly integrated into any space and the earthy colour options offer designers the opportunity to blend Rotate into the surroundings or make it a focal feature.
Rotate features an unusual design inspired by the Japanese art of origami. Much like the singular paper sheets used in origami, Rotate is made from a single sheet of powder-coated steel which is then cut into two pieces, bent into shape, and welded together. This gives Rotate its signature functionality as it does not have a front or backside, and so can be accessed from all angles.
“There is something so playful and intriguing about the whole idea of folding a sheet into three-dimensional objects […] It points towards a system, a tool to create something, which can be both very complex, but also simple and accessible. The same goes for Rotate – with a simple fold of a metal sheet, it becomes a shape that fulfils a functional purpose.”
Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, Space Copenhagen Founders
