Why five layers are better than three.

Most engineered timber flooring has a softwood ply core capped with hardwood, which over time can bend, warp, crack and shrink.

Big River Group offers the only engineered wood flooring with five layers of hardwood. Their Armourfloor product uses two outer layers of hardwood veneer, with three layers of solid hardwood between – allowing the natural beauty and strength of Australian timbers to shine through.

Armourfloor also uses cross-ply construction – turning each layer at 90º to the last – to actually make it far more resistant to shrinkage than solid hardwood, meaning it can even be used where underfloor heating is installed.

This unique manufacturing process makes it possible to create standard floorboards, large timber panels or different shaped timber tiles – offering versatility unseen in other timber flooring products.
