One of Medek’s key interests is the design of educational facilities, which he describes as critical “social infrastructure.”

While Director at Gall & Medek, Medek contributed to the masterplanning of the existing site around a single TAFE agricultural building, in a rural area 30 kilometres outside of Bundaberg.

“The design of schools has the potential to have a significant impact on students’ learning – our design can make the classroom a more challenging and inspirational atmosphere,” said Medek.

“As architects, we have a responsibility for social stewardship of these projects, because it’s such an important development stage in a young person’s life. I value the ability to have an imprint on someone’s thinking through our work.”

bureau^proberts has worked on a number of educational facilities in Queensland – including Griffith University – with several new projects underway, as well as a portfolio encompassing residential, masterplanning, retail and commercial development.
