For products awarded the coveted ’red dot’, the accolade is a seal of quality for aesthetic forms, moving trends and designers with a strong sense of responsibility.

The 6 Australian-designed products to receive a red dot this year were the BFP800 Kitchen Wizz Pro and the BDC600xl You Brew drip coffee machine from Breville, and 4 products from Blackmagic Design – the HyperDeck Shuttle uncompressed video recorder, Heavy Duty Mini Converter, ATEM Camera Converter and UltraStudio 3D uncompressed video edition solution.

“Companies have realised that investing in design offers a considerable added value. In the end, the design of a product is the most important incentive for the purchase decision of a consumer,” said Professor Peter Zec, CEO of red dot.

“The red dot… serves as an indicator for the creative performance of designers. Thus, these creative heads gain recognition for their work and companies can find out which designers achieve above-average results.”
