The exhibition acknowledges and celebrates the rise of design in the public sphere, by displaying the work of Queensland designers who have “influenced, impacted and are inspiring contemporary design in Australia”.

The touring Mod Squad exhibition showcases the innovation and creativity so indicative of Queensland design, through product, furniture, lighting jewellery and textile designs.

Mod Squad is also displaying the best of Queensland’s emerging designers with work from Nicole Lacey, Jenni Baxter Surya Graf and Bjorn Rust.

“These edgy and engaging designers bring a freshness to the exhibition and provide an insight into the work of those who are beginning to inspire the direction of contemporary Australian design,” say the organisers.

The exhibitions will also examine the crossover between art and design – so often encountered in Queensland – with works from Craig Flood, Barbara Heath and Susan Lincoln.
