Australia’s HBO+EMTB will undergo a significant restructuring of its local operations.
May 27th, 2013
Multi-disciplinary design firm HBO+EMTB, has announced a major restructure of its Australian operations. Citing the shake up as a response to challenging business conditions, the review “is designed to consolidate an unwieldy and complicated corporate structure.”
HBO+EMTB currently operates 23 offices across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. In a statement issued by HBO+EMTB last week the firm indicated that the growth to more than 30 companies over several decades, was going to be streamlined to four operating units structured along functional lines, namely, architecture, interiors, urban and landscape design and consulting.
“The restructuring will not impact any current projects and all Australian offices will remain open. The firm will continue to provide the highest quality professional design services for all clients.
Approximately 8% of the current workforce will be affected by the restructuring. Full redundancy benefits will be offered to impacted staff. HBO+EMTB offshore locations – including China, India, Singapore and the Philippines and New Zealand – will not be impacted by the restructuring and will continue to operate in their current form. The domestic restructure will involve the appointment of voluntary administrators to some companies within the group however the main business and brand will continue to operate as normal.”
Late last week the company’s CEO Kevin Fitzgerald said the restructuring was necessary to ensure a sustainable and profitable future.
“This is about ensuring the business has the right corporate structure to prosper and grow in the domestic market. I am confident this restructuring will secure the future for the company and allow us to continue delivering high quality services to clients.” he said.
