Alexandria has grown to become one of Saturday Indesign’s largest precincts. On Saturday 21 May, we’ll immerse you in the best design the precinct has to offer.
May 11th, 2022
One of the four major design hubs (alongside the CBD, Surry Hills and Waterloo), Alexandria is set to dazzle and delight. With exhibitors including Anterior XL, Kaolin, Stormtech, Caroma, Herman Miller, Living Edge, Porter’s Paints, Maker&Son, Molmic, Space Furniture, Ignite Fireplace Studio, Steelcase, and Krost, you’ll get to see all the familiar faces and meet the news ones as well.
With so much to see and do in Alexandria, we’ve listed all the highlights here, to help you plan your day.
Discover The Project
A huge part of the Alexandria precinct experience is the collaborations for The Project, between exhibitors and the industry’s most exciting designers.
Themed around ‘Regeneration’, these installations are designed to transport you to another creative dimension.
This year our Project is our Indoor Forest. Step into another world as we transform our showroom into an indoor forest experience complete with trees and bracken throughout.
Individuals are guided through the space by illuminated cubes containing Stormtech’s product offcuts, showcasing Stormtech’s practice of recycling and sustainability.
Kaolin Tiles x ARM Architecture
Cleverly designed by ARM Architecture and crafted by Kaolin, this circular patterned installation speaks to the viewer, where regeneration becomes fully realised at a given point or moment in time.
Anterior XL x Plus Architecture
Through various iterations we developed a demountable structural system that can be easily used to stack the stone slabs, creating a piece that restores its sculptural qualities.
To replicate the psychological transformation of being “reborn” we will be referencing colour strategies from a variety of influences and experimenting with colour action, layering and creating a journey of colour interaction.
Installations
Beyond The Project collaborations, exhibitors in Alexandria Precinct have been preparing some long anticipated, never before seen installations.
Be sure not to miss Seating Gallery at Steelcase, the ‘Shaping our Future’ installation at Space Furniture, the super instagrammable Jumping Photoshoot at Maker&Son, and the E-WASTELAND by Zetr and Walter Knoll installation at Living Edge.
