From the 1950s to today, British design house ercol remains as relevant in modern life as it did during the post-war years. Some of its most iconic furniture pieces have endured the turn of the century, proving that classic designs never go out of fashion.

Represented exclusively in Australia by Temperature Design, ercol’s unique brand of minimal simplicity and refined timber manufacture has made it a cornerstone of many residential, hospitality and commercial fit-outs.

ercol’s Henry Tadros, great-grandson of ercol founder Lucian Ercolani, made the trip from the UK to Australia, to speak with key architects, designers and enthusiastic supporters about ercol’s history and its unique manufacturing facilities – one of a very few that still exist in the UK.

Henry is the fourth generation to continue the ercol legacy, and spoke at two events. Stewart Russell co-founder of Spacecraft Studios hosted the Melbourne event (held at John Wardle Architects’ studio) and the other was held in Sydney. Henry regaled audiences with stories of ercol’s founding and growth internationally, as well as latest collaborations and plans for the future.
