The beauty of Singapore Indesign has always been in its thoughtful curation of programmes that add meaning and value to the entire experience of a ‘design event’.
Singapore Indesign 2016 (SGID16) was no different, and one of the best examples could be found at the Curated Space. The exhibitors this year were Greenlam, Sunbrella, ThinkLab by Luxxbox, and Kokaine / Waam Studio / Polybuilding, with each pulling out the stops to showcase the unique qualities of their brand and product offering.
Installation by Greenlam and DP Design
Greenlam
Greenlam collaborated with DP Design to create a huge, latticing free-form pavilion. The structure was made out of more than 600 eco-friendly laminate pieces that came together to form furniture, walls and canopy. Aside from showing the beautiful qualities of Greenlam’s laminates, the temporary structure also explored the concept of borders in providing a place of sanctuary and refuge.
Spectrum by Sunbrella and Lucas
Sunbrella
Sunbrella partnered with Melbourne-based design practice Lucas to present Spectrum, a towering installation made out of cascading cubes. The cubes were upholstered in Sunbrella fabrics that were strategically selected to underscore key colour trends and the company’s unique colour universe. Visitors could walk inside the eye-catching structure for a more intimate viewing of the piece.

ThinkLab by Luxxbox
More and more, we see domestic elements entering and transforming the office environment. At Singapore Indesign, the archetypal house structure displaying the very latest products from ThinkLab by Luxxbox appeared to reflect that trend. The company presented the company’s newest acoustic lighting, agile furniture and flexible thought boards that have been specifically designed to meet the work needs of today.
Kokaine / Waam Studio / Polybuilding
Kokaine / Waam Studio / Polybuilding
Kokaine presented a distinctive range of crafted furniture from Asia, and their latest brand, Jie. Waam Studio showcased beautiful, bespoke furniture pieces, and Polybuilding displayed a range of high quality Italian marble and European ceramic tiles that were suited for many different applications.
Eva Solo
Apart from the four main exhibitors, Eva Solo was there to showcase their fine range of designer accessories and tableware. In the afternoon, there were two Design Conversations panel discussions held to a packed room, and a presentation on Indesignlive.sg’s brand new website.

Visitors got take all of this in while enjoying delicious, bespoke cocktails by FORM that were inspired by Indesign Media’s key titles – Cubes Indesign, Indesignlive.sg and Lookbox Living.
