The future is in good hands: DIA award winners

From a shortlist of 82, the Design Institute of Australia’s (DIA) Designers Australia Awards (DAA) winners have been announced. The DAA embody a designer’s relationship with the built environment and their contribution to creating a better world.

President of the DIA, Gavin Campbell, says, “The DIA believes that designers and their contribution shape everything around us and that this ‘contribution’ is most effective when design is accurately investigated. The Designers Australia Awards represent design by ethics and promote ideas, creativity, diversity, and processes. This year the award winners and merit awards reinforced great design’s social, cultural, economic and environmental ramifications.” 

With three national winners, a President’s Award and 45 merit awards, the awards recognised the most nuanced design thinking in the country. A notable aspect of the awards comes in the form of awarding design processes as much as the project’s outcome.

The winners of the three national awards and the crowning President’s award ‘exemplified the calibre of Australian design ingenuity and integrity’. These include:
